17.5/20 Raymond Chan
“Full, near-saturated black-red colour with youthful purple hues. This has an elegantly concentrated and rich nose of ripe blackberry and plum fruit entwined with notes of liquorice and cedary, toasty oak, along with hints of oak resin, eucalypt and chocolate. Medium-full bodied, the fruit flavours are a little restrained, but unfold to show sweet, ripe plum and liquorice notes. Blackberry, earth, cedary oak and eucalypt layers add detail. The mouthfeel is plush and juicy, and balanced by supple tannin extraction lending structure, presence and weight. The wine flows with underlying alcohol power, carrying to a fresh, sustained finish with liquorice and cedar notes. This is a weighty, ripe, supple Shiraz with restrained plum, liquorice and cedary flavours. Match with barbecued and roasted red meats and casseroles over the next 5+ years.” Raymond Chan
